Why it’s different
Many free tools put a white box over the old text and write on top: the old text stays in the file and shows up again when selected. Rature really removes it and writes the new text with the font embedded in the PDF, in the same place and with the same spacing. What you don’t touch stays identical.
Find and replace across the document
A name or a date to change everywhere? “Find and replace” (Ctrl+F) does it on every page, with the same real removal.
What about a scanned PDF?
On a scanned page, the text is an image. Rature recognises the text (in English and French), finds the closest font and size, and lets you fix the line.
Questions
Does the edited text keep the same font?
Yes when the PDF contains the font, which is the most common case. Otherwise Rature picks the closest free font.
What about a password-protected PDF?
It opens if you know its password.
What if the PDF is already digitally signed?
Rature warns you: changing the file invalidates the existing digital signature.
Is it really free?
