Why it matters
Many online PDF services process files on their servers, even if they delete them afterwards. For an ID card, a tax notice or a contract, you’d probably rather they went nowhere. With Rature, they go nowhere.
How to check
Open Rature, then turn off your Internet connection: everything keeps working. And the code is public: anyone can check what it does.
Everything you need, for free
Fill in forms, sign, edit the original text, redact, merge and reorder pages, reduce the size, protect with a password, convert to Word, recognise the text of a scan.
Questions
How can Rature be free?
The site costs almost nothing to run, since your device does the work. If Rature helps you, you can buy the developer a coffee.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You can still install it as an app (the “Install” button) to open it offline.
Is there any visitor tracking?
Only an anonymous visit count, without cookies. The content of your PDFs is never involved.
What about scanning with my phone?
The photographed page goes straight from your phone to your computer, encrypted. A connection service (PeerJS) only helps the two devices find each other: it never sees the document.
What about large files?
Rature only draws the pages on screen: large documents stay smooth. The only limit is your device’s memory.
